Jeyanthinather Academy of Marine Studies
JAMS is a part of SPET and it is approved by DGS (Directorate General of Shipping – Government of India) on August 2015. Jeyanthinather Academy of Marine Studies (JAMS) is situated in a sprawling 30 acres campus with a panoramic view. Nature is generous in lending a lush green outlook and greenery of the college. JAMS are ideally located adjoining sea in a sprawling campus with well-furnished class rooms, modern teaching aids, seamanship/engineering laboratory and technical library. Having located near to thisaiyanvilai, our Marine College utilizes the facilities of Thoothukudi Port Trust as well as M/s. Poompuhar Shipping Corporation and shipping companies.

To prepare students for employment in various areas in the Marine industry and for the pursuit of advanced degree in Marine by education them in the fundamental concepts, knowledge, field techniques and prepare maritime professional to succeed in a fast changing competitive environment.

JAMS management, faculty, instructors and supportive staffs are committed to offer quality maritime education and training which meets the needs of the seafarers as defined by statutory/Regulatory national and international requirements to implement and maintain quality management system that conforms to the requirements laid down in ISO 9001:2015 Systematic approach to develop and monitor quality standards of imparted training and to ensure that it is of high standards and full compliance with DGS guidelines and STCW conventions, as revised from time to time Establish and maintain information gathering/feedback procedures and ensuring immediate up-to-date knowledge of new technical and regulatory developments in maritime world and its immediate implementation in the education and training imparted at the institute. We achieve our goal by complying with –
- The provisions of Section A - I/8 of the STCW Code (As per DGS Circular No. : 23 of 2020), all training, assessment of competence, certification including medical certification, endorsement and revalidation activities carried out by nongovernmental agencies or entities under its authority are continuously monitored through a quality standards system (ISO 9001:2015 Standard),to ensure achievement of defined objectives, including those concerning the qualifications and experience of instructors and assessors.
- By continually improving Quality Management System, through training/upgrading infrastructure and facilities /amenities/awareness/knowledge management.
- By monitoring & reviewing external/internal issues affecting JAMS, SWOT/PEST Analysis
- By considering and fulfilling all interested parties ‘needs and expectations thereon
- By conducting risk/opportunity analysis on Context of the Organization Issues/Interested Party Needs and Expectations /other issues arising out of various operations in our premises and working on risk mitigation and opportunity gain programs
- By determining to pursue all our policies and plans all time and all through accordingly.
